Media 5x5

1.favourite albums as of now

Blonde - Frank Ocean

Definitely a different sound to Channel Orange and I have to say, I prefer this sound. it has more of a chill vibe than Ocean's 'Channel Orange' which I like because you can relax and unwind to it.

Leave me alone – Hinds

This album has a sort of summer vibe to it so I’s perfect to listen to when it’s hot outside. Brilliant lyrics and overall one of the best albums I’ve ever heard.

Unknown Death 2002 – Yung Lean

Alternative electro rap I would describe this album as. I like most backing tracks to this album and I love the way Yung Lean raps, it’s very laid back

Wolf – Tyler, The Creator

In this album, Tyler drifts from his used dark side and shows us his hyper-active side. The album still has some dark stuff so you’re not overwhelmed with Tyler’s immaturity.

Salad days – Mac Demarco

Sort of a male ‘Hinds’ but Mac hasn’t got 3 other band members. Mac’s music has a quiet, lonesome sound to it, which is nice when you’re just trying to relax.

2. Favourite artists of all time

Tyler, the creator

There’s something about Tyler that makes me love every single one of his songs. Which is why he’s at number one. From ‘Bastard’ to ‘Cherry bomb’, his music is filled with emotion and songs that just shock you. I think what makeshis music enjoyable is the fact that every album is a different kind of music; this means I can listen to Tyler’s music for hours an not get bored.

RAT BOY

RAT BOY is a band with the lead man; Jordan makes the music along with the help of his band members. They often take over social media with videos of them causing nuisances and being reckless on snapchat. I like RAT BOY because they are mainly inspired from ‘blur’ so you can sense the Brit-rockness in their music.

Arctic Monkeys

I like the ‘Arctic Monkeys’ because their early albums are Brit-work then they transition to psychedelic rock and then progressed to plain old rock. Their range of different genres allows me to never get bored of their music.

Frank Ocean

Ocean is one of the best singers of his generation in my opinion. This album's lyrics mean a lot to me and in general, I think his music sounds amazing.

Kanye West

Only a few albums from Mr West appeal to me but the ones that do, I could listen to on repeat for hours. Kanye's mainstream rap appeals to me because of the way he raps.

3. favourite films of all time

Pulp Fiction

This cult masterpiece was made in 1994 and it has to be one of my favourite films from Tarantino and of all time. I love most of Tarantino's work but Pulp Fiction is full of action, comedy, romance and tragedy; it's everything I love.

The Shining

As weird and as strange The Shining is, I still love Jack Nicholson’s class acting. The psycho-crazes maniac that Nicholson plays fills me with excitement. This film is also full of twists and turns which is very well suited to my taste.

Kill Bill

Tarantino goes all out in this film and uses as much fake blood as ‘The Shining’ did in the elevator. I like Kill Bill because of the amount of culture it contains. For instance, the Japanese culture comes across very strong in this film especially as it has an anime scene in it; I like the sense of culture you get from Kill Bill. It’s not your typical action film that just takes place in New York and everything the main character touches, it blows up. No, this film is different and that is why I enjoy it.

Django unchained

I like this recent film because yet again, it is by one of my favourite directors, Quentin Tarantino. The amount of blood he uses in his films is just one of the reasons I’m into his films. I like this film especially because it gives an insight into what life was like for a black man during the slave trade so I can see how tough it was; I like this because it shows that life isn’t always great.

Napoleon Dynamite

An indie masterpiece. To this day, it is still one of my most favourite comedies. Again, this film isn’t your generic comedy as it is about Dynamite’s depressing life at home and about how he tries to get a girlfriend, this makes for a funny film.

4. Favourite TV shows

This is England (86-90)

A mix of comedy and tragedy. This is England is one of the most real TV show I’ve seen as it shows true emotion and it could be real events that have happened in people’s lives which is what makes it so powerful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all doom and gloom, most of the time it is basically a comedy as whatever Gilgun says makes you laugh.

Misfits

Hands down one of the best comedies of the generation. At times I was howling at the TV because of the things that were said. I like misfits because although it’s a fantasy as well as a comedy, it really does make me laugh. And it has one of my favourite actors in it: Joe Gilgun.

Family guy

Watch family guy and you will laugh. It is one of the most popular TV show of this generation and you can see why. I like it because it touches on subjects that most cartoon comedies wouldn’t pick on.

Stranger Things

This is a TV show set in the 80s. A more modern E.T. would fit the description of this TV show well. Although it may get a bit creepy at times, this TV programme is for anyone.

The Office (American version)

This is the funniest TV programme I have ever watched. Steve Carrel acts so well in it, it makes for a perfect watch.

5. Favourite songs as of now

1. Ivy - Frank ocean

This song's lyrics are superb and in my opinion, his greatest song of all time. It is a slow song where Frank sings about a past lover and the fact that he still feels some connection with them even though he/she hates him.

2. Crucify Your Mind - Rodriguez

I like this song's lyrics and the way the song sounds is very smooth. Once again, in my opinion, one of his greatest songs.

3. No other heart - Mac Demarco

This song sounds different to most of his other songs as this has a slightly faster feel to it. I like this and the lyrics obviously mean a lot to Demarco and you can feel that.

4. Ginseng Strip 2002 - Yung Lean

Not only is this song my favourite of all time, it is also my favourite as of right now because I listen to it so often. The backing track is the most individual/original chosen for a rap song I have ever heard and it's one of the best I've heard.

5. Nights - Frank Ocean

Yet another song from 'Blonde'. I like nights because the way he raps in this song fit so well with the backing track and it sounds unbelievably smooth.
